JOYEUX ANNIVERSAIRE!!
The following people are celebrating their birthdays. Find a present for each person by choosing an item of clothing.
LES GRANDS MAGASINS À PARIS
Many people consider the department store (le grand magasin) to be a typically American institution. However, it is a Frenchman, Aristide Boucilaut (1810-1877) who is generally credited with its creation. Monszieur Boucicaut's idea was to satisfy his Paris customers by offering them a large selection of good quality items at inexpensive prices. When he opened his new store in 1852, he appropriately named it "Au Bon Marché". His success was soon limited, leading to the creation in Paris of more department stores: Printemps, Galeries Lafayette, Samaritaine. Most of these well-known stores still exist today and have branches in cities across France.
