The letter -r in French
The letter -r in French is pronounced at the back of the throat:
Marie
Paris
orange
croissant
Watch the video above. You will be asked to repeat a sentence three ways.
1. EXAGGERATING - Stress that R just to get the right sound.
2. ARTICULATING - Formal speech - Enunciate the R
3. CASUAL - Say the sentence naturally, like the French do.
Here are the sentences you will practice:
1. Je regarde par la fenêtre. I'm looking out the window.
2. Arrête de rire! Stop laughing!
3. J'ai très très peur. I'm so so scared.
Repeat this exercise again and again. The more you practice the better you get!
